Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday July 3rd 2024 from 1300-1500
Today was a doom and overcast day but a brilliant time for Street outreach at Sunny bank. With the youngsters Edwin Qin and Shu Ei joining Johnny and Hung as a team, we almost covered any person coming forward to that North Bound Bus Stop outside the Sunnybank Plaza. The overall result was very good, apart from a few rejections, majority conversations led to fruit bearing results with the clear evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit in and amongst us. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung: -
1) Alias a teenage local Brissie, was fully convinced of the message and logic of the gospel. Promised to make his step of faith to receive Jesus. He showed appreciation by taking a selfie with me.
2) Three mainlanders girls skeptical about my approach and found an excuse to catch another bus to leave.
3) Came across a Taiwanese by the name of Chen who study Business at QUT. Briefly covered the nutshell of the gospel and handed him a tract when his bus arrived.
4) Jesses from Toowoomba of Pentecostal background to Brisbane for study. He was diagnosed with 100% Assurance and accurate understanding of the basis of salvation. Happy to take a selfie with me.
5) Next caught up with a Taiwanese tall guy coming for working holiday , also cover a brief nutshell of gospel only.
6) Then was led to approach an Australia Born Chinese lady who Claimed to be Christian but lack assurance of salvation.
7) Then bump into with Hu from Guanzhou who could not speak fluent Cantonese. He studied at UQ but sought help if he can paid bus fare by VISA card. I summon Shu Eh to help and have a final sharing of Gospel.
8 )Two dyed hair mainlander appeared a bit avoidance to chat and left as soon as their bus arrived.
9) Rejected by another English speaking lady.
10) Wells is a Malaysian Muslim who believes in God as such he opined no one can go to heaven unless that believe in God. Tried to differentiate how the Muslim God deals with sins in comparison to the Christian God by the redemptive grace of Jesus but could not yet have time to touch on the key role of Jesus.
11) Lastly, Shu Ei promoted me to chat with Yun? from Hong Kong to study Law here at QUT. Initially he bluntly declined to chat, but I appeal to befriend with him on account we are Hongkonger and assert his choice to be a lawyer upkeeping the Rule of Law. At the end, I use personal testimony to share the impact of gospel and salvation changing my life and affirm his choice to study law which is also one of the role to upheld righteousness in the crooked world.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday July 2nd 2024 from 1330-1430
It was a forecasted rainy day, but it is never a deterrence for Johnny and Hung to do street outreach. Moreso, Hung have the faith to bring no umbrella or wearing a raincoat. God again honored His promise to be with us while we were on mission with Him. The rain drifting down intermittently whole day did stop when we walked to the bus stop but rained again while we were doing outreach under the cover of the bus stop booth, then it stopped again to let us not get wet on our way back to Toowong Village. Also the work of the Holy Spirit was very prominent today, apart from a few avoidance people, whoever happy to chat with us from whatever country and even with different religions including atheist, they all appeared very open and receptive despite a few show initial reluctance or sarcastic attitude, they ended up showing God their thumb up to appreciate our insistence to share them the gospel. Any sign was the willingness to take selfie photo with me as a gesture of their appreciation for the gospel God used us to share with them. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung:
1) First I was led to approach a girl from Dubai who however was not religious. But she got connected with me because she is studying Psychology while I did a Master of counselling which is a joint venture between Psychology and Social Science. She showed openness to the gospel and appear convinced of the logic that whoever not perfect in our human character needs to accept Jesus as our savior.
2) Then Rejected by three persons.
3) Then I caught up with an Indonesia student doing Chemical engineering that allowed me to build rapport because of my past work experience with Indonesian Petermina petrol oil company. He also showed openness to the gospel.
4) Albin from India was very receptive to the gospel and ended up taking a selfie with me.
5) Natalie a girl from Chilean doing Marketing and communication, she is non-religious but was also convinced of the logical message of the gospel that whoever not perfect need Jesus as Savior to cleanse of all our sin. She was rejoiced to take selfie with me showing off the tract I gave her.
6) Then I was led to approach Kim. a Chinese look Kim Thai girl. She is a Buddhist but at the end, also convinced even the Buddha was not perfect and need a Savior, not to mention us, the ordinary good persons.
7) Finally I have a long chat with Bessy a French men coming to Australia on working holiday visa. He is also non religious but have a kingdom mind set to make friends with people of all nations and come to Australia to improve his English. He also fully accept the logic and admitted he need Jesus.

This week we ran 2 special outreaches for an NZ public holiday on Friday: Matariki. We had great weather (unlike for the beginning of the week, when there was a lot of rain), although it was cold, so we needed our puffer jackets on!
It was great to have big teams, and many members of our own church, Redemption Church, involved.
In the morning we were in Riccarton. Rudi, Vinil, Jonathan, Jerome, Elijah, were with Andy and I. It was a bit of a slow start, I guess many people were taking advantage of an opportunity for a sleep in? So, we had to work a bit to make some opportunities to share the gospel. We had a flip chart up, which a pair would run, the rest of us did walk up.
When I was paired with Rudi, the pickings were slim. But we wandered up to the bus stops distributing tracts. I got into a short chat with a lady who was willing to chat while we walked. Within a minute she was at her destination, and so I had to wrap up with a tract. God can use that!
Later, I was paired up with Jonathan. I overheard 4 girls say something about ‘church’, and so I grabbed at that to see if I could get a conversation started. It was a bit awkward, but it worked. They were willing to engage. But, a homeless guy overheard, and decided he wanted to ruin the conversation. I couldn’t ignore him, so I had to abandon the girls to engage the homeless guy. But, this wasn’t bad for 2 reasons: 1) Jonathan was with me, and 2) this was an opportunity for Jonathan to get involved: sharing the law and the gospel for himself! It worked out well.
After that, we were able to get into a conversation with a couple. They were tourists from Germany. They were resistant to hearing the gospel, holding to a mix of philosophies, including concern for climate change, and maybe some eastern religious leaning? And yet, they stayed around to hear a law and gospel, and she accepted a tract. It’s a seed.
Back at the flip chart, Jonathan and I had a number of opportunities. A young man, with a Christian background yet was subtly trusting works for salvation, stayed to go through the whole flip chart.
To finish off the outreach, we had a large group of kids on scooters come past and engage. They were all in different places, and I couldn’t hold all of their attention, by the end of the chat I had 3 (+ stragglers) still with me. Yet, those 3 were engaged. And 1 even took a copy of the gospel of John. It wasn’t a long chat, but gospel seeds were scattered on ploughed soil.
In the afternoon we were in the city, at the Bridge of Remembrance. Big team: Mike, Guilaume, Jordan, Emma, Chloe, Josiah, Roger, Jerome, Elijah, Andy and myself. 2 flipcharts.
Lots of people about. There was some military march happening. The outreach was busy, I was really tired afterwards. But it was great seeing pods of gospel conversations happening all over the place. The picture tries to capture it.
I ended up in a chat with 2 young men who had Christian backgrounds and yet were rejecting Christ. They became very engaged. When Jordan turned up, I pulled him into the conversation. Between the 2 of us, we talked with these 2 guys for well over an hour. It was maybe an hour and a half. I had to disengage from this chat to pair up with other newbies. But I left them in Jordan’s capable hands.
I ended up pairing up with Josiah. We had a number of good opportunities with people, but they were sadly resistant in different ways. I ended up using a Minecraft analogy with one of them (building / builder) - and Josiah, being a Minecraft fan, enjoyed that. It was great, because this guy could tell I was the main talker, and so he decided to pull Josiah into the conversation!
By the end of the outreach, I was back with Jordan in the original conversation. He was talking to Justin, and so I continued with Issac. After addressing all of Issac’s important questions, he was left with nothing but the truth: he is rejecting Christ because he loves his sin - he was honest about that. His Mum is a member of a good local church - I even know the pastor. This kid knew the gospel, and so I called him to repentance. I pleaded with him that the pleasure of sin would be bitter and lead him to hell fire. It’s not worth it. I’m helpless to change him. But God can. Early in the chat, I suggested that he has parents or grandparents that are praying for him. I now know he also has a pastor praying for him. Our meeting on the street was no coincidence. Sometimes hearing it from someone else can help. I’m praying for Issac too now. God save him!
On Sunday afternoon, Binu joined me in the city, and we handed out tracts for an hour. I had a couple of good chats.
One in particular was a highlight. A young couple stopped to engage (it amazes me that so many blast past me, and yet some are keen to stop and chat). They were open. He thought there was ‘something’, she didn’t like thinking about the afterlife. And so starting from there I was able to reason with them about the reality of the bad news, and then the hope of the good news. Such a good chat. They walked off with the gospel seed planted. I have no idea what the result will be. They are in God’s hands.
Thank you for continuing to pray for this ministry. Be encouraged as you make and take gospel opportunities in your day to day life. All glory to God alone.

Hurrah, today we had a strong team of four with Edwin Qin and Shu I joining Johnny and Hung during their term break. The two youngsters were fruitful gospel workers. Edwin made use of every opportunity to catch up with people. Shu I was blessed to have led a youngster called Jerry to Christ with a proper Conversion prayer. Johnny and Hung on the other hands had a couples of long chats sharing not just the gospel but life testimony. Recap below is a brief account of Hung's Battle Log today at Sunnybank.
1) I was led to approach first a Mixed Chinese Vietnamese girl who was born in Australia. After sharing the full gospel , she revealed she is a Christian. But upon checking, she is in lack of assurance of salvation but was clarified.
2) Then I had a long chat with Mr Chan from Guangzhou but has migrated to Australia for a long while. Their bus experienced delay as such I had over half and hour to share first my testimony then the full gospel and finally about the Jehovah Rapha God in charge of my late Bladder Cancer healing and treatment process. They really shared my peace and joy in life irrespective of challenges and trial.
3) Then I caught up with Kaiser a lady from Melbourne. She is
non religious but pure as child to embrace the gospel and invitation to come to Christ. She may be people with minor mental issue but her heart was all open to the gospel.
4) Next a Korean but show no interest but still took a tract.
5) Julie yet another Vietnamese girl pf grade 9 born in Australia. She was all good and welcoming for gospel sharing.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday June 25th, 2024 from 1330-1430
It was a pleasant Winter afternoon, but a comparatively quiet one. Yet, both Johnny and Hung still got divine appointments through the led of the Holy Spirit. We were graceful to serve with God this way that we are both the first hand beneficiary out of this Gospel preaching ministry. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung: -
1) Fouzia an UQ student from Ethiopia and visibly a Muslim in Islamic costume. But she appeared very receptive to gospel and accept the logical need of all good persons for Jesus as our Savior to take our place for the punishment of our sin. She wanted to take a selfie with me but the bus would not wait. Thanks to Johnny having taken a photo of us from the back.
2) Next approached a Mainlander young man who also was willing to chat but the bus came too quick.
3) Natalie a Filipino with family of Catholic background but she herself is not yet a believer. but still a pursuer. She also thanked for my gospel sharing.
4) Then I was led to chat with an Uganda high school student. He claimed he is from a Christian family. So I test his assurance of salvation which fall short of 100% but stays at 80% Managed to clarify with him and he showed appreciation by taking a selfie with me.
5) Then I was led to catch up with an ABC of Chinese parents. She alerted me to recall we had a chat before so I took the chance to have a revision on the gospel message with her and she sounded receptive to the message.
6) Last but not the least. I was led to approach a very modern girl by the name Li ?from Jinan, Shandong China ( ) Her hair is dyed golden orange. It did reflect her mindset is also quite open thus she did not shows resentment to hear the gospel and actually appeared very receptive to the logical deduction that as long as all human are imperfect, we all have the need for a Savior to take our place to receive the punishment of eternal death originally due on us. She accept our tract but asked for an English one.

Some of my report for this week is going to be 2nd hand information: from Andy. He had a very encouraging day on Friday.
But as I write this, I would normally be on the streets, but it’s pouring with rain, so I’m taking the option of working online this afternoon, where it’s dry! Yes, I’ve had many wonderful conversations - even out in the wet and cold, and yet, I can have wonderful conversations in the warm and dry as well!
So, only 2 street outreaches this week. In the city on Friday afternoon with Andy, and in Riccarton on Saturday morning.
But before I go further, I just want to mention that we have just confirmed a 2nd evangelism trip to the Philippines that I want to let you know about. The team is going in September 2024 - Andy and I can’t make that one. But, we are now also going in early March 2025. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come out of your normal environment and focus on sharing the gospel with the lost in another cultural context. We get to work alongside an awesome local church, Rock of Refuge in Manila, plus other churches as well in a shared mission to reach the lost with the gospel. These trips are for a week and a half each. If you’d like to learn more, and apply, check out the details here.
Okay, so now back to the usual report.
Andy had an amazing chat online on Friday morning. It was with a young man who had already been considering the claims of Christ; a friend of his went through a very difficult time in his life, and as a result he came to Christ and so he had been witnessing to this guy, yet he wasn’t yet ready to commit. Andy had the privilege of coming in and ‘closing the deal’ (I hate that term, because we are not selling anything, and yet, it conveys what happened). Sometimes it helps to hear it from a different avenue I guess, but Andy was able to clarify concepts, answer questions and challenge him to respond. He realised he had no reason not to do so. What a joy!
Then on the street, he had a string of wonderful chats. First with a group of 3 Americans (pictured). After a few minutes, they warmed up to the conversation and engaged, asking good questions and hearing the good news of Jesus.
We then headed down towards Ara, attempting to strike up chats on the way. Once at Ara, Andy had an amazing chat with a young Catholic high school student (also pictured). The kid even had a Bible with him, and so Andy was able to use it to clarify concepts with him (from Romans).
While this was happening, I had a great chat with a young man called Nat. Nat grew up within a Christian context and yet he was unsure about it all. I had a wonderful opportunity to minister: clarifying the gospel and how we can know these things to be true. I was also able to answer questions. Eventually we walked down the street and found a good spot where we could sit and finish the conversation comfortably (there was a lot of traffic noise). He thanked me at the end, as he moved on with a gospel tract.
Once that chat had finished, I noticed a large group of students - some of them I’ve talked to on previous outreaches. I said hello, but none of them seemed interested in a chat. By this stage Andy was with me, when a guy walked past and so I prompted him with: “Hey, can I ask you a question, it’s a deep one, what do you think happens after life?” He engaged, and Andy and I ended up having a long conversation with him. He was an atheist. He understood that you can have infinite regresses; and yet he was stuck on the problem of “Who made God?”. The answer is, because we can’t have infinite regresses, God must have had no beginning (and so needs no maker) because the universe did have a beginning (and so does need a maker). When you think about it, the answer is clear, but he just couldn’t (or didn’t want to) see it. I laboured with him for a few cycles before cutting to the law, and then the gospel. We discussed evil and suffering. But, sadly, it all seemed a bit wasted on him, he just didn’t see it. Yet, the gospel is the power of God for salvation, in time it may bear fruit? And at the very least, Andy and I got to bask in the wonder of the gospel for ourselves. That Joseph understood that his brothers sold him into slavery so God could save his brothers just blows my brain! God truly uses all things for the good of those who love him, and ultimately for his glory.
When I checked the time, the outreach was well past over. So, we walked with this guy to his destination (the bus exchange) before heading off for a hot chocolate for ourselves.
I spent an hour in Riccarton on Saturday morning. I had 2 special encounters.
The first was right at the beginning, the first person to walk past accepted a gospel tract. She was a Muslim lady - she was interested in the front page of the flip chart. It was a short chat, yet a powerful one. She was trusting in her works, and the law seemed to pull the rug out from under her, before I was able to explain the good news of Jesus. She accepted a tract.
Then I had a young man approach me, he knew me, but I didn’t remember me. Once he gave me his name, a vague recollection came back. He used to be a Christchurch Boys’ High student. But he now works for a furniture removal company. Sadly, he didn’t remember the gospel. And so I was able to point him to it again.
Well, that’s the week. I’ve got a few more hours of labour online before having a day off tomorrow.
God bless you as you take and even make opportunities to share the gospel with those around you this coming week. Thank you for your prayer and support.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday June 19th 2024 from 1300-1500
It was yet another Spirit led Street Gospel Outreach with the elected ones chosen to have some long chat with either Johnny and Hung. For instance, Johnny caught up with a lady from Taiwan but he initially mistaken her as an English-speaking person but quickly found out she is from Taiwan but coming to Australia on a working holiday visa. She co-incidentally lives at the home of a Formosa Church Pastor and attended his church every now and then with a lot of questions. Now God led her to meet with Johnny and chatted over 45 minutes of so to clarify all her questions. God is praise worthy to line up such divine appointments for us to work with him. As for me, God gave me urge to approach a First nations Family but we chatted only a short time and the mum and all other family members got on to a bus with the 18years old son left waiting for another bus. Though the mother said her son cannot speak, but I was still led to talk to him with mutually edification result. It was overall a mutually uplifting experience for both the preachers and the receivers.
1) First I was led to approach Young man by the name of Gao? who is from Huzhou in Jie Jiang. He is a UQ student but behaved very politely and appeared to be open for the gospel listening up all gospel sharing in a friendly manner. It was extraordinary to Mainlander students who are caution not to have a chat with us.
2) Then I approached a Filipino lady. She admitted she is a Catholic Christian so while I was trying to test her assurance of salvation but was interrupted by Johnny asking me to talk to a HongKonger.
3) Justin this Hongkonger attended the living water church of the BCAC in West End, He possibly is a new comer, so he was worrying about his church having no pastor to minister as Rev Thomas is leaving. I assured him that the BCAC and Living Water Church must have all plan B to fill the gap before they really can find a replacement.
4) Damon a very handsome cross breed First Nations young man of 18 years old who was waiting for bus to go back to his Tarragindi home. He is a dumb person who could not speak, but there is no sense of self-pity shown in his face. I ended up having an extended long conversation with him using all the hands gestures and body language plus writing on the iPhone. Their family have been urbanized possibly through the lost generation avenue to get educated and upbringing by the Missions as a fair dinkum White Aussie. They have lost their ethnicity link so they do not have any family or clan connection to allow them to return to their home land anymore. But to my surprise, their family and he himself are fair dinkum Christian and is church going. Above all, he passed the assurance test that he has 100 % assurance of salvation that he can finally go to Heaven simply just because of the redemptive work of Christ.
5) The I caught up with a Fijian and Mori girl of Catholic background. She was open to chat but it was a pity her bus came too quickly that I did not have time for testing her assurance of salvation.
6) Next was an Indian boy possibly an Australian born Indian. He is not religiou0s but still open minded to gospel message and took a tract afterwards.
7) Then I was led to talk to another Australian Born Taiwanese. He seems to be an atheist so just listen but show indifference to the gospel message.
8 ) Finally I tried to catch up with another Asian look person. Yet his nationality cannot be determined. He was so shy and his English is too bad for any even elementary conversation. Finally he took a tract out of politeness.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday June 18th, 2024 from 1330-1430
It was yet another cheerful and glorious day of gospel outreach under the warm Winter sun. There mixed reaction but overall speaking, we could feel the hands of God behind each and every divine appointment whether a smooth or difficult conversation, God was always in control. Both Johnny and Hung had some long and quality conversations with either first timer or people with multiple chats. Recap below is the Battle Log of Hung.
1) I was led to approach first a Japanese girl who comes to learn English at the Language School of UQ. Mt Japanese greeting aroused her interest and allow me to share the full gospel to her till the bus came.
2) Linghan an English speaking Malaysian, though claimed to be an Atheist, but appeared very open and receptive to the gospel sharing as he could not find any illogicality in the need of a Salvation as it is universally agreed that no human is perfect as such we all need a Savior to redeem us from the bondage and judgement of sin. I at one moment even thought he is readily a Christian but on parting he told me he actually is an Atheist. So I can only claim this is the miraculous work of the Spirit to soften his heart turning him around to admit he also needs Jesus. He showed his appreciation by taking a selfie joyfully with me.
3) Then I had a brief chat with a young man from Nanjing who comes to study engineer at UQ. He showed impartially to gospel sharing and took a tract at the end.
4) Then I caught up with a Head student from SMT called Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology, a selective State School for elite student founded in 2007. She has around 15-20 badges of honor pinned on her overcoat life those veteran did on Anzac day parade. It was a perfect illustration of how a good or even excellent person she is but still she needs salvation like every body else as long as she admitted she is still imperfect.
5) Then I was led to catch up with a Belarus girl Valerian who is non religious but still friendly to listen to the gospel and took a tract at the end.
6) Another long chat with Anna an ABC of half Aussie (Mom) and half Chinese (Dad). She finally disclosed she once a church going Christian but no more. I encourage her to reconnect with God as we must remain in Him to be able to keep growing towards perfection through the life transformation work of the Holy Spirit, on top of the foundation of Jesus' redemptive grace granting us readily the long lost heavenly citizenship and life of eternity. She was graceful for my sharing and joyfully took a selfie with me.
7) Lastly, I caught up with a girl form Shanghai. It was a pity there was not enough time for full Gospel and she also took no tract at the end.

A more difficult week of outreach this week. Yet, no chat is in vain! For all I know, those difficult opportunities will lead to an increase: salvation of souls. God uses us in our weakness for his glory.
So, we skipped 2 street outreaches due to rain (Friday and Saturday). So I was only at each location once this week. Riccarton on Tuesday afternoon with Roger and in the city on Sunday afternoon.
But, this meant I did more online (and even that was difficult this week!) Yet, the work online (via needGod.net) is so encouraging. Not only are we reaching thousands of people with the gospel, I’m seeing individual Christians growing in their apologetics and evangelism.
I’m seeing massive growth in the ability of some people who I have been involved with during their initial training. To listen to their conversations, then and now - the contrast is amazing, glory to God! So, don’t give up, keep practising, that’s the key. And online, it is so easy to do! We offer free training, so if you are interested, get in touch!
So, reporting on the 2 street outreaches. Last week in Riccarton, I was really busy in conversations, this week it was very slow. So slow in fact that I decided to abandon my flip chart and go look for conversations to have. This did the trick. I wandered down Riccarton Road and I was quickly engaged in a conversation with 2 high school students.
I then had a special chat with a young lady right outside the bus terminal. She was going to a church, but her motive for attending wasn’t right, and she wasn’t understanding the gospel. I had a short opportunity to engage her. She eventually asked an interesting question: “why isn’t God doing more to reach people”. My answer was that I was talking to her right now! God is raising up an army of people to go to the world with the gospel. That’s you and me. Regular Christians with an amazing, yet deep, yet simple message of Jesus. Let’s be polite, and yet, let’s be bold in proclaiming it to the world around us.
Roger and I ended up wrapping up the outreach a little bit earlier than usual. It finished with Roger having a conversation with a young Muslim man (pictured). I could tell he wasn’t really interested in engaging, because he would keep avoiding the subject by asking questions about other topics. I think Roger even said that he had rung his Iman for help!
On Sunday afternoon, the sun was back, and plenty of people were out and about. Yet, I struggled to get conversations started. I moved over to the sunny side of the street, and then I decided to go for a wander.
I approached someone down by the Avon river, but he wasn’t willing to engage, as I moved back to Oxford Terrace, I finally got some engagement with 2 guys. But, sadly they had hot pizza and coke, and they wanted to move on and eat. They took tracts.
Finally, back at the corner of Cashel and Colombo, I got into a short chat with 4 teen guys. They didn’t really want to engage, so I had to work to keep them, but I was able to share the law and the gospel, before letting them move on. Seed dropped. May others be able to come and water it. Are you ready? I decided to head home early and work online. Thanks for your prayer and support of our feeble efforts for his glory!
