Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Nov 26, 2024 from 1330-1430

It was good to have Johnny back from his one month Family vacation in Bali. The sun was scorching hot. There were much less people flow perhaps also because Uni term was over. We however still managed to get meaning conversations with both new gospel targets and those who had chatted with us before for a refreshing revision touch on the gospel. God also moved us to react quick enough to help out a driver of an UTE that had broken down to push his car to safety at the road side area. It became an instrument for me to connect with my last gospel target for the day as recap per Battle Log below: -

1) A girl from Jilin吉林 who has been to UQ Brisbane for 2 months 二月. She defied the norm of mainlanders appearing open and receptive to the gospel though it was only half shared when the bus came. She was willing to take a tract anyway.

2) The next was a person we chatted before談過：Time only allows a brief recap and follow up. 稍談

3) Then approached Allan whom we also have chatted before, he appeared very welcoming for the revision and showed clearer understanding with good receptiveness.

4) Then approached a girl who just laugh without responding in words. Anyway shared the nutshell of the gospel before her bus came in very short time.

5) Next was a Japanese girl Sakuran from Osaka. She was surprised to hear me greeting her in orthodox Japanese, as such was clicked for the gospel message which was finished in time when her bus arrived.

6) Then I was led to approach 恩端 or Chole a Korean lady. I tried to ask if she is a Christian as Korean has turned from a Buddhist country to Christianity. She answered she is no Christian and has never heard the Gospel before. Thanks God giving me enough time to finish sharing the full gospel message and Chole really showed positive response to the key message that all human, though good but not perfect as such we all need to be saved by grace through faith in Christ as our Savior and Lord of our life. She was happy to take a selfie so I could recognize her next time.

7) Last but not the least I had a long chat with Desperandum from India. He also join us to give a hand to the driver to manfully push the car to place of safety. He look very modernized and open mind with a Westernized clean shaved appearance. I shared him the full gospel and also used my Bladder cancer hassle to demonstrate sin is like caner , even a trivial sin is like a caner cell that must be purged and killed. He was also happy for my sharing and show appreciation with a selfie in case we may meet again to follow up on his decision on salvation through faith in Jesus

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday Nov 20th, 2024 from 1330-1430

Praised be to God, Ann Yeo rejoining Hung today at Sunnybank as her zoom prayer meeting time has been changed to make this time slot available to her again. Moreso, she defied the rainy weather to come and had many long chat with women especially. As for Hung, I got many open and receptive chat with people from Taiwan, Japan, Mainland China and local Aussie as recap below.

By the way, an end note that before the street outreach, I had a chance to share the vision of local cross cultural outreach for all lay Christians with Fong the Administrator of SIC. Hopefully, it will sow the seed of drawing more people to live a life on mission with God.

1) Caught up with a local Aussie from WA and built rapport by the Fair Dinkum" gig. He was open for chat but it was cut short by the quick arriving bus.

2) A Young man from Taiwan with no religious background but parents are most likely Buddhists.台灣無宗教父母佛，He inclined to think being a good person 做好人is readily good enough. I was glad I could share him the truth that good if not perfect is still not good enough and we all need Jesus to take our place to receive the punishment of our sin.

3) Adam watched with interest and greeted in Mandarin, but we could only have a brief exchange as his bus also arrived. We quickly took a selfie hopefully help me to recognize him for a longer chat next time

4) A middle aged lady from Chungshan , China中山移民 who only disclosed she is a Christian of a certain denomination信主但宗派不明朗. Her foundation of faith seemed not solid or else how could I failed to sense she is a Christian. No time to test her assurance of salvation.

5) Another long chat with a Japanese woman migrated to Australia for 20 years. She was surprised I could greeted her in fluence Japanese. But she was all good to communicate with me in English for gospel sharing.

6) An elderly Mr Wang 王from Mainland China大陸，was willing and open for a chat. He is not yet a Christian but have certain bible knowledge. The gospel message shared to him hopefully may clear up some misunderstanding concept about the Christian faith.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Nov 19, 2024 from 1330-1430

Today, I did solo again at Toowong under incessant drifting rain. People flow was much less, but opportunity to get a chat was still fine as people could not avoid me to get away from the Bus stop covered area except by rejecting me. The quality of chats were good and fruitful.

1) Justin a local Brisbane resident who has no religious background but was friendly and felt not offensive for sharing of gospel.

2) Then I was led to approach a Mainlander by the name of Ji 計 from Hangzhou. 杭州. Good rapport was build by my travelling experience to Hangzhou before he was born.很開通, He appeared very open for gospel message and his mood was good because he is returning home tomorrow. 明天回國. He also is a rare mainlander who does not mind taking selfie with me as a gesture of appreciation for the chat.

3) Next was a middle age lady who is a nurse too tired to chat on serious matter.

4)Then I turned to a young girl with nose ring with only 1 min but still ok to have a chat sharing the nutshell of gospel.

5) There were a couple of rejections in between.

6) Finally had a long chat with Mighiko a Japanese lady from Tokyo who comes to work in child care. Her English seemed not very good but still OK to comprehend my message and have reasonable interaction.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday Nov 13th, 2024 from 1330-1430

For the consecutive day, Edwin joined Hung to serve at Sunnybank for street outreach. As usual, Edwin was quick in action making fast approach as soon as people just arrived at the bus stop. It was a fair day of ministry with reasonable divine appointments for longer chat apart from quick ones interrupted mostly by the quick arriving buses. For Hung, majority of the chats were welcome and ended up with a selfie for future possible contact as recap below:-

1) Catiah from Peru on student visa learning English is a Catholic Christian, she only got 50% certainty of going to heaven. Pity not enough time to finish the clarification.

2) Trent from Mackay who is now working at Royal Brisbane as a nurse. He is a Christian but also lacking assurance of salvation. Started the clarification but not enough time to finish.

3) Martin is an Anglican Christian who claimed to have chatted with me many times before. I still managed to test his assurance of salvation which again is not 100%.

4) Have a casual chat with a Shanghai couples.

5) Have long chats with a Shanghai 88 oldie first by Edwin then by me. It was hard to get our message across as he behaved too self centered that always use his own personal experiences to counteract any message you tried to share with him.

6) Ron a Filipino Christian and was the first one today to have3 100% assurance of salvation.

7) A Hong Konger from Hong Kong Hinfook播道會顯福堂and is now attending BCCCC as he lives in Northern Brisbane and attending QUT for 2 years already. He however only has 85% certainty of going to heaven which had been clarified. He dislikes photo so no record of his face despite I attempted to take a selfie with him so I can tell his church people we met on the street

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Nov 12, 2024 from 1330-1430

Edwin Qin a faith coworker of Street Gospel Outreach joined me to day as well as tomorrow as his BST term is done now. Edwin was a keen gospel worker reaching out to almost all who were present at the bus stop without hesitation. At Toowong bus stop, normally our chatting time in average are short, but there were still exception that both of us could have some good chat and sharing the full gospel with visible good receptive response. Recap below is my brief battle log for today.

1) An USA girl who has come to live in Australia for10 year. She was open and receptive to the gospel.

2) A Vietnamese girl who let me have a chat but ultimate showing no great not interest in the gospel message.

3) Mishan a young man from Northern India who appeared very opened and receptive to the Gospel message, he took a tract and happy to take a selfie with me in case I can recognize him in future for a follow up chat.

4) Another Indian girl ok to chat but the gospel sharing was cut short by the quick arriving bus

5) Then have a good chat with Gold Coast girl who is non-religious but understand Bible is the source of all universal human right including freedom of speech, she resonated with this as her parents were both journalist. So it was a good lead into the gospel message with a tract given to her for follow up reading.

6) Luke another local Aussie who show keen interest in Gospel message though he is still a non-believer despite having a Biblical Name if Luke. He was also happy to take selfie with me to let me recognize him in future if we may meet again at the bus stop.

7) The 3rd Indian for the day but this one show reluctance to chat

8 ) A couple local Aussies who were happy to chat initially but shut down as soon as gospel message was touched upon.

9) An ABM Australian born Malaysian of/ Indian origin was friendly for a chat. The quick arriving bus just cut our chat shot.

10) Lastly a long chat with girl from Shanghai, she did not reject the gospel message after I built good rapport with her by my early day visit to Shanghai in 1974.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Sunnybank on Wednesday Nov 6th, 2024 from 1330-1430

Today, it was Hung alone to serve at Sunnybank while Johnny is overseas and Edwin is preparing for the last Bible College Exam. It was a very special and unique solo outreach having connecting with 3 persons only but all had spent unusual longer chatting time as recap below: -

Katy a Vietnamese girl coming for English study. She listened the full gospel and showed great openness and appeared very receptive to the Gospel despite she is a Buddhist follower.

Then I connected with an Indonesian girl who has migrated to Australia already as such she also showed openness towards the gospel which was half preached as it was interrupted by the arrival of her friend.

Then God led me to make friend with Shinga, who is from Kyoto , Japan coming here for working holiday. He has just arrived in Australia and Brisbane for 2 days. It was beyond doubt a divine appointment for me to meet Shinga as he was wondedring at the bus stop if he can get on the bus without a Gocard? Then where to buy a Goward. I was moved to put aside the evangelism task and helped him out to sort out all his query and practically led him to enter Sunnybank Plaza mall to buy Gocard at the Newsagent. He actually had an appointment to inspect a house that he might share room with another person. Luckily, the appointment was at 1630 so God allow ample time for me to share the full gospel to him. Praise be to God that Shinga readily has the heart to pursue Christianity, so my gospel sharing reinforced his desire to connect with God and a Christian church. He thanked for mu help and vowed to seriously ponder to receive Christ and he is confident God will lead us to meet again somewhere around in Sunnybank Plaza.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday Nov 5, 2024 from 1330-1430

Today, I went to Toowong to do street outreach on my own as my team mate is overseas. It was a scorching day with Temperature surging up to 33C, and the Bus stop was even trapped in higher temperature like a furnace because of the radiant heat radiated by the concrete surface of the bus stop. A normal person will get sunburn if exposed under such heat over 10 minutes. I managed to try if how long I could put up with the heat, and eventually stay there for 40 minutes. I could gained two long conversations with first a Filipino girl then a Kiwi young man both are migrants but already called Australian home. The Filipino lady is a Catholic Christian but lacking assurance of salvation, The Kiwi young man is non-religious but was open and humble to listen to the full gospel showing good receptiveness. There were many more short conversations that were cut short by the quick arrival of bus , and many rejections mostly because of the extreme heat that caused impatience for people to chat under the scorching sun.

It’s been a month since my last report.  I’ve decided to move to monthly reports - I’ll aim for the first Sunday of the month.  This will mean I’ll have more time for evangelism, but for the few of you that read these reports, you’ll still have fuel for prayer (which is so vital!), and knowing that we are still active out there!  Thanks so much for your support, it’s very much appreciated.

 

In the last month, the usual weekly street outreaches have been happening: Tues & Sat in Riccarton, and Fri & Sun in the City.  We have also had a few special events:  I ran a Saturday morning training session in Christchurch, and then the following Saturday we were at the Ellesmere A&P Show.  And as I write Roger, Andy, and myself are in Whangārei with Phil & Emma Tunstall and their church: Maungakaramea Reformed Church for a week of street outreach.  Today I ran the training session in the afternoon, after the usual morning gathering.

 

It’s been a wonderful month - with all the special outreach opportunities - and yet, it was a difficult month as well - having a major setback in regards to a future planned special outreach.  I know God uses all things for his glory and our good, and so I’m going to rest in that truth, and continue to bring our future plans to him in prayer.

 

There is one conversation that has been burning in my mind all month.  It occurred on the 18th of October during our Friday afternoon outreach in the city.  It was with a Filipino man.  He was sitting on a bench near the Bridge of Remembrance.  I politely approached him with a tract and an offer to chat about the deeper things of life.  He was welcoming, and so I sat next to him to have a conversation.  It turned into a long conversation.  He had a Christian background, but he was very unclear on what the gospel is.  He pointed to keeping the commandments and asking for forgiveness as the reasons he would get to heaven.  And so, starting from there I proceed to labour with him coming to understand the law and the gospel.  I had to go over it many times, but it was wonderful to see the truth dawning in his eyes and thinking.  He seemed very grateful, and if my memory serves me right, I gave him a gospel of John and a church contact card.  I haven’t heard from him - but that’s okay.  He is in God’s hands.  Please pray for this man, that the Holy Spirit will bring conviction and conversation in his life, and that he will be knitted into a good local church somewhere.

 

The Ellesmere A&P Show was wonderful.  A nice hot spring day.  Andy & I were very busy all day, scattering seeds with the farmers passing by our hired site and flipcharts.

 

And the first outreach in Whangārei (2 hours in the morning) was off the charts good!  I had four wonderful conversations with people who seemed deeply impacted.  One young lad, who had obviously already been thinking about the deep things of life, even made a profession of faith!  But what was even more encouraging is that the young Christian who was paired with me was being encouraged in evangelism!  He seemed deeply impacted, and motivated to get into the harvest field, which is ripe!  Glory to God alone.

Battle Log at Sunnybank on Oct 30, 2024, I had to take a break from the street outreach to see my Urology Specialist Dr Wesley Hii to listen to his verdict on the last day surgery result. Praise be to God and thanks to the concerto oneness prayers of all brothers and sisters that all cancer cells no matter at the outlet of the ureter or inside the bladder have all been completely cleansed. Thus I am declared safe again for this present moment in time. Another biopsy will be arranged in next Feb or March to monitor if there is any chance of relapse. Thanks again for the care and loving kindness interceding prayers and I will certainly continue to offer my all to keep serving God to mobilize every one to have a go to live a life on mission with God.

Before I went for the consultation, I did outreach for a while by myself and Johnny was occupied by other family affair.

1) First I was moved to approach a Korean girl who claimed herself a Christian but lack assurance of salvation which was basically clarified hastily because of bus arrival.

2) Then I approached a Filipino Catholic man. I also touched base on assurance of salvation which by no exception was not there.

3) Then I was led to catch up with a East Timor man also of Christian back ground and again he is also lack of assurance.

4) Last but not the least I caught up with Sam a local Aussie high school boy who is not religious but appeared very open and receptive to the gospel. He learnt Mandarin at school, so I use this to build better rapport and pray that he will be moved to make the right decision to accept Jesus.

There were a few rejections but it is normal.

Battle Log of Operation 513 at Toowong on Tuesday October 29, 2024 from 1330-1430

Praise be to God, my younger brother comes all the way from London to visit me and join us for street outreach together with his wife. Johnny originally was not available therefor I invited Winnie to come up from the Gold Coast to join us to give my brother more team work experience. Johnny however was free to join us just a bit later forming a big team of five. The Spirit really dwell on my brother anointing him with boldness and wisdom to get many conversation though not without rejection. We pray that this first time street outreach experience by my brother will be used by God to use him as a mobilizer to get his church in London to take on this challenge to do regular street outreach as such fulfilling the calling of God for all Christians nowadays to be priesthood of all believers.
